Krasdale Foods taps Gus Lebiak as president and COO


Steve Silver to retire after nearly 40 years at metro New York distributor


The new President for Krasdale Foods has been selected, Gus Lebiak has been nominated to be the new President of Krasdale Foods. The Current President Steve Silver is now retiring from his position in the company as President and Chief Operating Officer.  

White Plains, N.Y.-based Krasdale has announced that Gus Lebiak who is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Alpha-1 Marketing Subsidiary will start his new role on 1st January 2021. Steve Silver will be serving as an adviser however, he will continue his services as a part of the board of directors.

Krasdale Chairman and CEO, Charles Krasne stated; “Looking forward, I am confident that Gus will be a strong leader, providing continuity and deep insights that will result in further growth of our business. His promotion is a natural progression of his career and is well-earned. I look forward to working closely with him.”

Gus Lebiak has served Alpha-1 since April 2019. His responsibilities included Digital services, advertisement, retail operations, customer service, marketing production of meat, sales, Communal relation management, training, and compliance.

Steve Silver stated; “Since coming on board at Krasdale, Gus has worked closely alongside me to create a culture of collaboration among employees resulting in our best-in-class management team. Most recently, when our industry faced unprecedented challenges, Gus played a big part in helping Krasdale help its customers to get through the pandemic on solid footing. I have complete confidence in his ability and leadership.”

Gus Lebiak started his almost 40-year profession in the staple business working in retail parts for a very long time at Mayfair Supermarkets, including as a collaborator senior supervisor. In 1991, he moved to the discount side by joining Twin County Grocers as a purchaser/investigator, late turning into a classification supervisor. Next, in 1999, Gus Lebiak aided the dispatch of market agreeable Allegiance Retail Services, filling in as head of the staple and afterward VP of focus store. He joined Krasdale Foods in 2012 as VP of Alpha 1 Marketing.

Alpha 1 Marketing provides marketing and merchandising services to Krasdale wholesale customers C-Town, Aim, Market Fresh, Shop Smart Food Markets and Stop 1 Food Mart, as well as other food and grocery retailers. Krasdale’s Beta II Marketing subsidiary performs the same functions for the Bravo supermarket banner.

The president of Alpha-1, Thatcher Kranse said; “I also look forward to continuing to work closely with Gus. Gus is well-integrated into the Krasdale family and will continue our tradition of excellent customer service. I expect the transition to be very smooth.”

Steve Silver has been president and COO of Krasdale Foods since January 2019. He recently filled in as COO prior to being elevated to president, a title that had been held by CEO Charles Krasne. Before that, Silver was leader VP and CFO. He joined the organization in 1981.
