According to the recent statement provided by Kroger which have just started doing deliveries by drone. They have collaborated with Drone Express who have announced a pilot program offering grocery delivery by unmanned drones.
In this regard Judy Kalmbach, Vice President of Product Experience, said, “Kroger’s new pilot drone delivery program is part of the evolution of our fast-growing innovative e-commerce business that includes receiving, delivery and shipping. With sales reaching more than $ 10 billion in 2020. Promotes Pilot Program The importance of flexibility and promptness to customers, backed by modern, cost-effective and efficient last-mile solutions. We are passionate about testing drone deliveries and gaining insights that will enrich expansion plans as well as future customer solutions.”
Now, if you are wondering how it will deliver? Well, Kroger customers will have great flexibility about where their grocery orders will be delivered. While many of us have set an appointment to deliver groceries to our homes, this drone program will allow customers to choose delivery to the park, the beach, or wherever their smartphone is located. With Kroger.com/DroneDelivery, customers can have their purchase as soon as 15 minutes from the time the order is placed.
Drone Express will be conducting these test flights near Kroger Market in Centerville, Ohio. The flights will be carried out by licensed unmanned pilots from an on-site trailer, with additional monitoring off-site. A second beta program is scheduled to be launched through Drone Express this summer at Ralphs grocery store in California. Autonomous UAVs have the potential to improve everyday life, and the technology can provide safe and environmentally friendly deliveries. It is only a matter of time before drone delivery becomes as common as the smartphones we keep in our hands.
