Just in: one of the finest and largest grocery stores in the town have announced that they will be holding a grand opening party on June 8-9 for its new upscale store in Scott Depot. The store, at 101 Great Teays Blvd. , in the same square as the old Kroger, which is now closed. Store employees and Kroger regional executives cut the ribbon and led VIP tours of the store on June 8. The store opened to the public on June 9 at 8 a.m.
While, the $24 million facilities is 94,000 square feet, compared to 54,000 square feet in the old building, Bob Davis, vice president of Kroger Mid-Atlantic, said in his opening remarks. The greater space allows Kroger to offer a greater range of products and services and something else that customers value: wider aisles.
“This store represents our commitment to the community and the country,” Davis said. Customers can expect a variety of new features, including Murray’s Specialty Cheese Shop, Starbucks, takeaway and easy-to-prepare meal solutions to fix at home. Convenience offerings include Pickup, an easy way to order groceries from a website or mobile app. All employees were moved from the previous location to the new, larger store, while 98 part-time workers and 18 full-time workers were added. Dor a total of 266, according to Kerri Parkins, manager of the Scott Depot store.

As part of the inaugural celebration, the first 500 customers on an opening day received a $500 Kroger gift card, and the Kroger Fuel Centre offered a 20 cents-per-gallon discount on fuel with Kroger Plus cards. The petrol discount promotion runs until June 12th. Through the VIP event on June 8, Kroger sustained its commitment to fighting hunger and strengthening communities. By donating $5,000 to Facing Hunger West Virginia and $5,000 to Backpack Buddy.
While back in August 2020, Kroger officials announced their plan to build a new supermarket in the former Kmart building. Kroger is the nation’s largest supermarket chain, and the second-largest general retailer, after Walmart. Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic division operates more than 100 stores in West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
