Lori Raya, chief merchant of SpartanNash, joins Kroger as President of Mid-Atlantic


According to the recent announcement by Kroger co which is the largest grocery retailer USA have appointed Lori Raya as the President of the Mid-Atlantic Division. While succeeding Paula Gent, who has been promoted to Group Vice President of Retail Operations at Kroger’s Cincinnati headquarters.


If we talk about the Lori Raya who came to Kroger from grocery distributor and retailer SpartanNash. Where she has held the position of Chief Marketing Officer and Marketing since February 2019.

In this regard, the newly appointed President of Mid-Atlantic Kroger said that “I am delighted to be the new Head of the Mid-Atlantic Division at Kroger, and can’t wait to work with a talented and enthusiastic team of partners who serve our clients with pride. One of the things that drew me to Kroger is its focus on supporting communities, and I look forward to participating and making a difference in Richmond and the other communities that Kroger serves throughout the Mid-Atlantic Division.”

While Lori Raya brings more than three decades of experience in the grocery industry to Kroger. Prior to joining Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Spartan Nash as Chief Merchant and Marketer, she spent 31 years at Safeway/Albertsons, most recently as Head of the Albertsons Division at Albertsons Cos. She was Albertson’s division chief from 2015 to 2018 after serving as Von’s division chief from 2012 to 2015  the first woman to serve as a division chief in the grocery chain’s 107-year history. At Safeway, I started as a store assistant and rose through the ranks to store manager, area manager, vice president of retail operations, group vice president for strategic initiatives, and various senior management positions for the food category. Now, let’s see what positive change she will bring to Kroger in terms of betterment.
