According to the recent statements, it is reported that the space which was previously labeled under Kroger grocery have a new grocery venture. A new grocery store is set to move to the old Kroger site on South Limestone Street where Springfield City commissioners have reached an agreement to sell the property.
In addition, the investors in the project are expected to sell the space to Grocery land LLC, which is chaired by Ravindra Patel, along with local physician Vipul Patel. They also own several grocery stores in the Dayton and Columbus areas and four retail and petrol stations in Ohio, according to a press release from Springfield.
While, Grocery land is expected to invest $ 2 million in real estate improvements, including new ceiling, ceiling, lighting, fixtures, flooring and parking lot. Many more features like building façade, landscaping as well as signage and miscellaneous equipment. The press release added that the goal is to start revamping the former Kroger site in June with the new grocery store open to customers by the end of the year.

The closure of the Kroger site in South Limestone early last year has created a food desert for residents who lack the transportation and other means of grocery shopping in Springfield.
