As new restrictions were announced by Governor of Washington, Jay Inslee due to the surge of the coronavirus cases in Washington, many people headed to Costco’s store in Seattle, Washington. Governor Jay Inslee ordered a ban on Indoor bars, restaurant services, and, further limited gatherings.
A local Seattle resident headed to their Twitter to tweet regarding the long queues outside the Costco warehouse in Seattle. The grocery giant had displayed a whiteboard outside the premises to inform its members about the items that were out of stock at the same which included toilet paper, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, and all products of Kleenex.
Since Costco is known for selling items in bulk, and its members usually include people from big families who purchase their weekly (or monthly) grocery items in bulk, it cannot be said for sure whether the items were out of stock due to people hoarding supplies. However, Governor Jay Inslee on his Twitter account had advised people there is no need to hoard items and it is crucial for the public to be considerate. The tweet said
‘’ One thing we don’t need right now is hoarding. Our supply chain remains strong, and buying up everything in sight only hurts efforts to keep the flow of goods adequate to meet everyone’s needs. Please be considerate and save some for your neighbors, family, and friend’’
